Minnesota Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius gets an up-close look at some high school students in action today. She's going to the girls hockey tournament at the Xcel Center in St. Paul.
Cassellius is a big hockey fan and plays hockey herself — a forward on the Penalty Box team in the Women's Hockey Association of Minnesota.
She'll be at the 11 a.m. semi-final between South St. Paul and Warroad. Lest anyone worry that she's playing favorites, she'll sit with South Saint Paul Superintendent Dave Webb and Warroad Superintendent Craig Oftedahl, and she promises to cheer equally for both teams.
The women's hockey association playoffs are March 15 in Blaine, so maybe some of the high school players will stop by for that.
