Anita Hill, famed for her role in the Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' confirmation hearings in 1991, speaks today at the Women Winning annual luncheon.
Women Winning is celebrating its 30th year in helping elect pro-choice women candidates for public office.
The sold-out luncheon is at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis.
Hill was a key figure in the Thomas case; she testified that Thomas had sexually harassed her when he was her supervisor at the Department of Education. Thomas denied the allegations and was eventually confirmed by the Senate on a very close vote.
Also scheduled to speak at the luncheon are Gov. Mark Dayton, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, and Congresswoman Betty McCollum.
Women Winning was founded in 1982 and has grown to become a force in state-wide elections; it provided $500,000 in contributions and support last year. It recruits and trains candidates in targeted districts as a way to increase the number of pro-choice women in office.
The group notes that it endorsed women in five of the six special legislative elections last year, and its candidates won in all five.
