Is there too much haze in the air this morning, or are my eyes correct as I read that Ramsey County gets an F for particle pollution in the air, according to the new American Lung Association ratings.
Guess I'll need to spend more time in Duluth, which is listed as one of the top cities, nationally, for clean air.
Although state officials say the metro area is seeing diminished air quality in recent years, other state counties did better on the survey's particle pollution ratings:
- Dakota C
- Hennepin C
- Olmsted C
- St. Louis B
- Scott C
- Stearns C
The report also looked at high ozone days in 14 counties that collect such data, and found that Minnesota fared well. Thirteen counties got an A; Crow Wing County had a B.
Speaking about concerns that the metro area could reach levels considered unhealthy by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Paul Aasen, commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, told the Star Tribune:
"We are seeing this pattern all over the metro area. We are getting right to the point where we could not meet those air quality standards in the near future."
