The two Republicans already running for Minnesota governor in 2014 say they won't push for repeal of the gay marriage bill signed into law Tuesday, MPR reports.
So far, Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson and Orono businessman Scott Honour are the only GOP candidates officially in the race to challenge Gov. Mark Dayton, and both plan to focus on taxes and education issues if elected.
An adviser to Honour notes that the state Senate isn't up for re-election until 2016, so any attempts at repeal before then would be symbolic.
The Minnesota Family Council has said it will work to elect legislators who will repeal the law.
Several legislators are considered possible GOP candidates for governor — Sen. Dave Thompson, Sen. Julie Rosen, Sen. David Hann and Rep. Kurt Zellers — and all voted against the gay marriage bill, the story says.
