The St. Cloud School Board has voted to hire Willie Jett to take over when Superintendent Bruce Watkins retires this summer.
Jett is now the St. Paul School District's high school assistant superintendent.
According to the St. Cloud Times, St. Cloud School Board Member Dennis Whipple said of Jett:
“He has a set of skills that is just going to be very dynamic to involve this community, involve parents and involve our current tremendous teachers and staff. I just think he’s an energizing force, and I’m very, very excited."
Jett said:
"I’ve always been in love with the St. Cloud area and just to have this opportunity, I am humbled by it and am honored."
Salary negotiations will now begin, the paper said:
In his current position in St. Paul, which has an enrollment of 40,000, Jett earns $132,000. Watkins earns $166,500 in a district of about 9,500 students.
