Lawmakers and Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner Jim Schowalter will discuss the pending health care reform in Minnesota during a forum Monday, March 4, at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School.
The event, "Big Choices: Minnesota Health Reform," is sponsored by the Humphrey School's Center for the Study of Politics and Governance. It's the first in a series of forums called "Health Reform and the Minnesota Approach — Implementation in 2013."
The Monday event is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Humphrey School's Cowles Auditorium, 301 19th Ave S., Minneapolis. The organizers' description of the event is:
After several years of debating whether Minnesota should pursue health reform, the 2012 elections are propelling reform forward and raising a host of policy issues that will impact patients, health care providers, insurers, and tax payers. As the state builds a new health insurance exchange to help individuals and small businesses connect with an insurance plan, significant decisions need to be made about how it will be set up and run.
University Professor Larry Jacobs will moderate. Also on the panel will be:
- State Rep. Joe Atkins (DFL), chair of the Commerce and Consumer Protection Finance and Policy
- State Sen. Michelle Benson (R), assistant minority leader.
