No snow emergency, but St. Paul plans major street plowing

St. Paul plow crews will try to clear snow from city streets Wednesday and Thursday, after a succession of small snowfalls that clogged the roadways.

This is not a snow emergency, though, so there won't be towing or tickets.

But city officials do hope residents will move their cars during the plowing, so the streets can be cleared from side to side.

Here's the plea from the city:

Residents are asked to move their cars during these two days to allow city crews to address a number of nuisance snowfalls that have occurred in recent days and that have left the residential streets with an accumulation of snow on the medians and the parking lanes. Milder temperatures are forecasted for these two days, and the lower temperatures will aid the plowing effort.

The schedule:

  • Wednesday: east-west residential streets will be plowed beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: all north-south residential streets will be plowed beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m.

Once a street is plowed from curb to curb, it's OK to park there again.
