Gov. Mark Dayton's back surgery to relieve lower back constriction went well over the holidays, and he's back in St. Paul for recovery.
The governor had been expected to return to the Governor's Residence on Summit Avenue on Monday but stayed an extra day at the Mayo Clinic for additional recovery there.
Although the legislative session starts next week, the governor will have no public appearances for a few weeks.
Lucky for his rest and recuperation, workers won't start hammering until summer on the planned $2.6 million renovation of the 100-year-old residence, which was given to the state by the Irvine family in 1965.
