Sen. Amy Klobuchar reports that she's finished her quest to visit all 87 Minnesota counties this year.
(Reminds me of Garrison Keillor's attempt to recite all the county names at the State Fair a few years back.)
A swing through 12 counties this week put Klobuchar over the top. She hit Cass, Rock, Pipestone, Lincoln, Lac qui Parle, Big Stone, Traverse, Stevens, Pope, Swift, Chippewa and McLeod counties in two days.
She's running for re-election on Tuesday, with polling showing a large lead over Republican challenger Kurt Bills. But Klobuchar said it's not just an election-year thing; she's completed the county tour each of the past seven years.
In a statement she said:
"Meeting with people in cities and towns across our state helps inspire my work in the Senate," said Klobuchar. “I’ve always approached my job with one simple value — putting Minnesota first. That’s why I have visited all 87 of our state’s counties for the past seven years, and why I will continue to work to get things done for the people of this state."
