A storm that whipped through Rochester Wednesday knocked out power to many buildings, including the SELCO Southeastern Libraries Cooperating building.
The outage, which was finally fixed this morning, meant 87 area libraries in several counties were unable to check out books or access the Internet.
Officials were working to power up the system in the late morning.
The Rochester Post Bulletin said: "[T]he 87 libraries affected include five in Houston County, four in Mower County and seven in Fillmore County, and many schools in those counties."
