Musician Dave Peterson was inspired to write a song about the flooding that swept through Duluth last month. As he says on YouTube:
I wrote the lyrics to this song while thinking about the deluge of rain that hit central and northern Minnesota on the 19th and 20th of June, 2012 and the subsequent damage the water and wind caused, especially in the Duluth area. The song speaks to the power of nature and of the miracle of young Kenny Markiewicz surviving a wild ride through a culvert and escaping serious injury. Despite major damage and economic loss, there were no deaths from the massive storm.
Lyrics and music by Dave Peterson. I've used a Taylor acoustic guitar and a Deering Maple Blossom banjo on the recording.
