Officials say it's safe to drink the water in West St. Paul

West St. Paul residents have been told it's OK to drink the city water again.

On Tuesday, residents were urged not to drink it, after  a power outage had prevented officials from pumping enough water through the system to ensure that there was no contamination.

But tests showed no contamination and the warning was lifted Wednesday morning.

"We are lifting the drinking water advisory after receiving the results from our comprehensive sampling program, confirming that there are no bacteriological contaminants in the water being distributed through our mains," said Steve Schneider, general manager of the St. Paul Regional Water Service.

"Customers can resume normal water usage. West Saint Paul’s service and pressure have returned to normal."
