A national leadership program has selected two Minnesota state commissioners to take part in a week-long seminar put on by the Council of State Governments.
Administration Commissioner Spencer Cronk and Minnesota Management & Budget Commissioner James Schowalter will attend the Toll Fellowship Program in September, along with 46 other state leaders from around the country.
Gov. Mark Dayton said he nominated his two commissioners for their leadership in state government and work on reform initiatives.
Cronk had previously served in New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg's administration as executive director of organizational development and senior adviser for the Department of Small Business Services.
Schowalter previously served as deputy commissioner of MMB, and before that, was the state budget director.
The leadership seminar is named for Henry Toll, a Colorado senator who founded the Council on State Governments in 1933. This year's program will focus on trends analysis, policy development, and leadership and institutional changes.
