The Minnesota DFL is sending reinforcements to help their Wisconsin brethren Tuesday in the get-out-the vote effort in the recall election of Gov. Scott Walker.

The party is asking volunteers to meet at its St. Paul headquarters at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning for doughnuts and a rally; they'll then be bused across the border to help Democrats there get out the vote.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is the Democrat in the race, which is a repeat of the 2010 governor's race that Walker won with a 52 percent majority. Walker has been ahead in recent polls.

The DFL headquarters is at 255 Plato Blvd., across the river from downtown St. Paul.

Minnesota Republicans, too, are heading east to help Walker in the recall election. Kurt Bills, the Minnesota GOP's candidate for U.S. Senate, is headed there Monday afternoon to help party members there.
