GiveMN.org, the online site that processes donations for nonprofits, said it has reached the $50 million mark in gifts.
The donations came from 154,000 individuals and were directed to 6,200 nonprofits, the organization said.
GiveMN was launched in November 2009 by the Minnesota Community Foundation and its partners.
“We are thrilled to hit this major milestone of $50 million in such a short time. It is a reflection of Minnesotans’ generosity and we’re proud that Minnesota is a philanthropic leader in the digital age,” GiveMN Executive Director Dana Nelson said.
GiveMN's big push comes each November on "Give to the Max Day;" in 2011, 47,534 gave $13.4 million to 3,978 Minnesota nonprofits. This year, the event is Nov. 15.
