In recent weeks, Minneapolis mayoral candidates have been busy touting endorsements and highlighting shows of support before Saturday’s DFL convention.
We asked each of the seven candidates to share some of their endorsements. Several of them list additional supporters on their campaign sites.
Here are the lists by candidate:
Mark Andrew
Groups: Minneapolis Building Trades Council, Minnesota Young DFL (MYDFL), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers — Local 292, Stonewall DFL — The LGBT Caucus of the DFL and Teamster Joint Council 32.
Individuals: They include Ambassador Sam and Sylvia Kaplan, former House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, Minneapolis School Board members Alberto Monserrate, Kim Ellison, Richard Mammen and Rebecca Gagnon. The campaign also lists more than 40 other citizen endorsements, including Hennepin County Board Member Peter McLaughlin, state Reps. Jim Davnie, Phyllis Kahn and Cara Letofsky and six former legislators.
Jackie Cherryhomes
Groups: The DFL African American Caucus.
Individuals: They include Hennepin County Commissioner Linda Higgins, Minneapolis Park Board Commissioner Jon Olson, Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, former Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton, Kathleen O'Brien, former Council Member Joan Campbell, Carol Flynn, Stephen Grisham, the Rev. Randolph Statten, Tony Scallon and William English.
Betsy Hodges
Groups: Womenwinning, Service Employees International Union-Minnesota State Council, DFL Latino Caucus, DFL African-American Caucus and Sierra Club North Star Chapter.
Individuals: They include Sen. Scott Dibble, Dr. Josie Johnson, Rep. Jean Wagenius, Rep. Susan Allen, Rep. Frank Hornstein, Council Member John Quincy, Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, and national author Van Jones. The campaign also lists more than a dozen other citizen endorsements, including three former School Board members and two members of the Metro Council.
