Minnesota becomes third state to 'ban the box'

On January 1, 2014, Minnesota becomes the third state in the country to put 'ban the box' legislation into effect. The law prevents most private employers from asking job applicants on their application if they have been previously convicted of a felony. In an interview with Senate Media Services' Capitol Report, senate author Bobby Joe Champion, DFL-Minneapolis, discusses why he felt the law was needed and what changes it will effect.
