Hennepin County officials say they will begin accepting same-sex marriage applications on June 6, in preparation for the new state law that goes into effect Aug. 1.
Earlier reports indicated that, under the new law, gay marriage applications couldn't be made until Aug. 1, but Hennepin County officials will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon to provide more information about their June 6 policy.
Licenses must be obtained at least five days before a wedding, and they are valid for six months.
