Edna Szymanski, president of Minnesota State University Moorhead, has announced that she'll retire in June 2014, after six years on the job.
She became the 10th president of the Moorhead school in 2008, says the Fargo Forum, and apparently had told MnSCU Chancellor Steven Rosenstone of her decision last fall.
Before taking the Moorhead job, Szymanski was senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Maine, Orono.
She'd also been dean and professor in the College of Education at the University of Maryland-College Park from 1999 to 2006, and was chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1997 to 1999. She also had been a rehabilitation counselor and then unit supervisor in upstate New York from 1975 to 1986.
