The 17-year-old grandson of state Sen. Mary Kiffmeyer was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening family members with a shotgun at the Kiffmeyer home in Big Lake, the St. Cloud Times reports.
The paper says Kiffmeyer, the former secretary of state, was not home when Sherburne County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded to a 911 call of a juvenile with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Mary Kiffmeyer’s husband, Ralph, told police that their grandson, was threatening to harm himself and his mother, the paper said, citing law enforcement scanner traffic.
There were no shots fired, or injuries, in the incident.
Ralph Kiffmeyer said the boy was staying with them during a rough patch with his parents.
