The Dalai Lama was in Rochester over the weekend, getting a regular checkup, reports the Rochester Post-Bulletin.
Routine exams at Mayo in April or May are an annual thing for the 77-year-old Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader, the paper said.
He was spotted talking with people outside St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday, and Mayo Clinic spokesman Bryan Anderson then confirmed the Dalai Lama's arrival for "routine medical care."
Also on the Dalai Lama's Midwest swing: a scheduled speech to the Wisconsin Assembly Tuesday, a public speech in Madison Wednesday and a series of panel discussions at UW-Madison this week.
