An abandoned vehicle impounded in Willmar is apparently a mobile meth lab and may cost the city up to $3,000 in cleanup costs.

The West Central Tribune says the chemicals found in the vehicle must be disposed of properly, and that comes at a high cost.

Willmar Police Capt. Jim Felt said that the department's budget is strained and he's not sure how the disposal cost will be covered.

The vehicle was towed in December, after being ticketed several times when it wasn't moved for snow plowing. On Saturday, crews were cleaning the vehicle for a police auction when the chemicals were discovered.

The vehicle has been removed from the auction list and will likely be sold for scrap.
