Three DFL Minneapolis City Council members failed to get their party endorsements at party conventions Saturday.
The Star Tribune noted: "Growing minority populations, redrawn districts and council policy played a major role in the day’s events ..."
Here's what happened Saturday:
6th Ward: Abdi Warsame got support from the area's East African population to get the endorsement after Council Member Robert Lilligren dropped out early Saturday.
10th Ward: Urban planner Lisa Bender won endorsement, leading to questions of whether Council Member Meg Tuthill would continue to run for re-election.
12th Ward: No endorsement was made as Andrew Johnson challenged Council Member Sandy Colvin Roy.
Not all council members went home empty-handed: 7th Ward Council Member Lisa Goodman and 11th Ward Council Member John Quincy were endorsed at their conventions. Both were unopposed.
