St. Paul officials have accepted a $16,000 donation from the Midway Men's Club and say they'll use the money for youth activities around the city.
The group raised the money at its concession stand at the State Fair, on Underwood Street, east of the Grandstand, where members sell sweet rolls, donuts, hot dogs, hamburgers, Polish sausages, bratwurst, hot dago sandwiches, beer and pop.
The city parks department says this donation will be used for athletic equipment, field trips, special events and classes at seven neighborhood recreation centers and two city-wide programs.
They include: Hancock Recreation Center, West Minnehaha Recreation Center, North Dale Recreation Center, Merriam Park Recreation Center, Northwest Como Recreation Center, Scheffer Recreation Center and Oxford Community Center and programming support for the Canvas Teen Arts Center and Adaptive Recreation.
The group also donates fair proceeds to other city park and rec programs that support sports, as well as the Hamline Branch Library.
