Gov. Mark Dayton wants to change the titles of two agency heads in his cabinet.
Most agency leaders are called commissioners, but the heads of the Office of Higher Education and the Office of Enterprise Technology have different titles under state law.
Larry Pogemiller is now technically Director of the Office of Higher Education, and Carolyn Parnell is Chief Information Officer of the Office of Enterprise Technology.
MPR says, and the governor's office confirms, that the governor's plan would not change the pay or duties of the two positions. The governor just wants everyone in his cabinet to have the same title.
The governor's cabinet website already lists the title changes, but needs the law changed to make it officially legal.
