What would it take to make up for low Vikings stadium e-pulltabs revenues?
from The Deets by Ed Kohler
It would take one venue for every 786 Minnesota residents. Are there that many venues in the state? Or, do we need to expand venues to include gas stations, grocery stores, bar countertops, and everywhere else Las Vegas has installed screens in front of patrons in order to make the 30 years of debt payments Dayton promised to Zygi?
After the forecast: Adjusting the Brick City Budget
from Brick City Blog by Sean Olsen
Yesterday’s release of the state’s February Economic Forecast provided a dose of good news regarding our budget scenario, trimming $463 million off of the projected deficit for 2014-15. Teacher LIFO reform: Weirdest. Politics. Ever.
from Wry Wing Politics by Joe Loveland

U of M study on teen texting and driving targets rural Minnesota
from Minnesota Prairie Roots by Audrey Kletscher Helbling
But, says Morris, “My hope is that we find some key answers to reduce crash and fatalities for teen drivers in Minnesota and nationwide. This is such an important issue because traffic crashes are the leading cause of fatalities for teens. The rate at which we lose our sons and daughters on the road is unacceptable and it is a charge to all citizens to help to become the solution to this problem.”
Transit planning
from Barataria by Erik Hare
Transit planning. If the phrase gave you a cold shiver as it called up memories you’d rather repress, we should talk. It’s been a real horror show here in St Paul as a parade of officials and hired engineers have stood in front of citizen committees and neighborhood gatherings telling us whatever they thought we wanted to hear and never (never!) listening. The decisions were always made long ago by people more interested in chasing pots of money, appropriate or not.
