Srilata Zaheer has been named the new dean of the University of Minnesota's Carlson School on Management.
She has been interim dean since July 1, 2011, when former Dean Alison Davis-Blake left to become dean of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Zaheer has been at the Carlson School since 1991 and, before taking the interim dean post, had been associate dean of faculty and research.
University President Eric Kaler said in a statement:
"In Dr. Zaheer, the Carlson School has a dedicated and visionary leader who shares my belief that the University of Minnesota can and will be an institution that solves the challenges facing our state, the nation and the world. She has charted a course for excellence that, while forged by her own unique experience, builds upon Carlson’s mission and closely mirrors my vision for an efficient, effective and engaged institution."
University officials said Zaheer's salary will be will be $480,000, of which $270,000 will be paid for with private funds from the Elmer Andersen Chair and the Leadership Distinguished Chair.
The University's Board of Regents is expected to approve the appointment Friday.
