The Minnesota Consortium for Citizens With Disabilities, a lobbying coalition of disability advocacy groups, has hired Rebecca Covington to be executive director.
She has experience with advocacy and coalition leadership work, having worked for the University of Minnesota Duluth Student Legislative Coalition and the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group.
"We believe Rebecca’s leadership with help us take the next step in creating a powerful voice for disability at the State Capitol," said Steve Larson, the coalition's co-chair.
The consortium has more than 100 member organizations, which represent people with disabilities, providers and advocates. It provides advocacy training and conducts public policy work to improve the lifes of those with disabilities.
The group also said it has recently received final confirmation of its 501 (c)4 non-profit status.
