Ken Martin says he'll seek a second term as DFL Party chair early next year.
He's a party activist who was first elected to a two-year term as chair in February 2011.
In a letter to party members, he notes that the party has eliminated a $725,000 debt from 2011 and will finish the election cycle in the black.
"As we head into what could be a difficult mid-term election, the party is in potentially the strongest financial position it has ever been in, which will no doubt make a difference in helping to re-elect Governor Dayton and Senator Franken in 2014," he said.
And he says:
"In the past two years we have taken many steps to set our party on a path toward growth and success. Yet a great deal of work lies ahead and there is always room to improve. I have given a great deal of thought to how we can keep building this party, and I am ready to continue steering our efforts. Therefore, I am announcing today my intention to run for a second term as the Chair of our great DFL Party."
