Newly elected 8th District Congressman Rick Nolan will take his campaign manager, Mike Misterek, to Washington to be his chief of staff.

Nolan defeated Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack to win a return to Congress. In the 1970s, Nolan had represented a different Minnesota district in Congress.

As chief of staff, Misterek will supervise Nolan's office in Washington and in the Minnesota field offices.

Misterek is a 2003 graduate of the University of St. Thomas, and his bio says he's a founding partner in Twin Cities-based Strategic Field Concepts, where he managed advocacy campaigns focusing on Medicare, telecommunications, rural broadband expansion and voter outreach.

He worked on Obama's 2008 campaign, was political director for the Minnesota Health & Housing Alliance and, once worked as a staff intern for U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone.
