Hennepin County will hold an auction Dec. 7 to sell tax-forfeited property, including houses, duplexes and vacant lots.

The property, from around the county, is sold as is, and may be in poor condition, officials said.

Among the items:

  •  Four single-family houses in Minneapolis
  • Two double bungalows/duplexes in Minneapolis
  •  Two single-family houses in Maple Grove and Richfield
  •  14 vacant lots in Minneapolis
  •  Six large commercial lots in Brooklyn Park
  •  Six vacant lots in Hanover.

Mark Chapin, director of county Taxpayer Service, warned:

"They are sold ‘as is’ and bidders are encouraged to go to the website and thoroughly investigate each property before bidding, including consulting a real-estate attorney and the city in which the property is located for zoning and building conditions. But for the right person — especially someone with the skills and resources to fix up or build new these properties are a good buy."

The auction is Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. in the A Level Auditorium of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis.
