WASHINGTON — Minnesota U.S. Rep. John Kline will serve a second term as chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee in 2013-14, House Speaker John Boehner announced Tuesday.
Kline has chaired the committee since Republicans took back control of the House in 2011. This session has been marked by clashes with the White House on both education and labor policy, primarily No Child Left Behind reform and the power of the National Labor Relations Board.
Kline is the only Minnesotan slated to chair a full House committee in the 113th Congress, as he is now.
The House Republican conference will vote on committee chairs on Wednesday, though passage is expected.
