State Rep. John Kriesel, who's not running for re-election and has been championing some moderate views even though he's a Republican, got hammered on Twitter Thursday for his opposition to the marriage amendment.

The Star Tribune's Rachel Stassen-Berger chronicled the action between Bob Koss, a state Senate Republican staffer, and Kriesel, who's now got a job in Anoka County as the veterans services officer.

It included some very harsh words and ended a few hours later with an apology from Koss. Lots of folks chimed in to support Kriesel.

Kriesel is quite an active tweeter and gets involved in some interesting sparring that often is made public.

Last week there was the exchange with Andy Parrish, the former Michele Bachmann aide who's now deputy campaign manager for Minnesotans for Marriage.

And last fall, Bernard Berrian of the Vikings took offense at a Kriesel tweet about the team's poor performance. Berrian told Kriesel, who lost both of his legs in a bomb explosion in Iraq, to "sit down n shut up."
