Growth & Justice musical revue to highlight policy and politics

The progressive think tank Growth &  Justice is producing "Songs and Substance," a musical revue, Thursday at the Huge Improv Theater in Minneapolis.

They call it "A Public Policy and Political Philosophy Musical and Lyrical Revue."

Hosts will be Growth & Justice President Dane Smith and The Theater of Public Policy co-founder and executive producer Tane Danger.­­ They promise l"ive and recorded music, karaoke, a sing-along, this evening will leave you with a song in your heart and policy on the brain."

I'm not expecting an Andrew Lloyd Webber parody: "Music of the Right."

Featured performers will include Peggy Flanagan, director of external affairs at Wellstone Action, and Jim Harkness, president of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy.

The show runs from 7 to 9 p.m., with a 6 p.m. reception. The Huge Improv Theater is at 3037 Lyndale Av. S., Minneapolis.

Tickets for the show only are $20 for two; $75 and up per person for the reception and show.
