Reigning WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx were honored with a reception at the White House on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Associated Press, President Obama called the team great ambassadors for the game and an inspiration to his two daughters.
On the Lynx website, forward Maya Moore commented on previous visits during her tenure as a member of the NCAA champion Connecticut women's basketball team: "You kind of think about your life and you think you have problems, but then you walk into the White House and you think, 'These are real problems. They're trying to figure out how to keep the world at peace.' It really makes you step back and appreciate our freedoms."
The Lynx won the 2011 championship by beating the Atlanta Dream in three games last October.
