Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar has added the Minnesota Farm Bureau to her list of supporters in her re-election bid.

The group, an affiliate of the American Farm Bureau that typically supports Republicans, has endorsed Klobuchar over her GOP challenger Kurt Bills.

Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC Chairman Randy Kramer said Klobuchar "understands the issues facing farmers and has shown a rare ability to work across the aisle to stand up and do what is right for our state. She showed leadership in passing the 2008 Farm Bill and fought to pass a bipartisan 2012 Farm Bill through the Senate and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC is pleased to endorse her."

The Missouri Farm Bureau, meanwhile, says it is reconsidering its endorsement of Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin, who talked last week about "legitimate rape."

The Washington Post story says the Missouri group has always backed the Republican candidate, since it first started making endorsments in 1982.

In Minnesota, Klobuchar also has been endorsed by the more liberal Minnesota Farmers Union.
