Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, who was a very early supporter of Barack Obama's presidential bid, says he'll get a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention that starts Sept. 4 in Charlotte.
Rybak told the Star Tribune that the date and time of his podium appearance is still being arranged.
"It's the kind of honor I guess I never thought I would get, so I'm hugely pleased," Rybak told the paper. (He might be the only one paying attention who's surprised at this, considering the mayor's busy schedule as an Obama surrogate.)
On the other side of the aisle, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will speak in prime time Wednesday at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
