U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen will serve as acting chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources through the end of the year.
He takes the reins after former Chairman Geoff Davis of Kentucky resigned from the House, citing family health issues.
Paulsen said in a statement: "It is an honor to be named Acting Chairman of the House Ways and Means Human Resources Subcommittee. I look forward to this new challenge of leading the subcommittee which oversees welfare reform and important programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Unemployment Insurance, and Supplemental Security Income."
